What is Epoxy Resin Flooring?
Epoxies have been around from as early as the 1890s when a Russian chemist, Prileschajev, first observed the chemical processes involved. During the 1930s, the first epoxy patent was secured by a German, Paul Schlack.
From the 1940s, Dr. Pierre Castan, from Switzerland, and Dr. S.O. Greenlee, from the USA, both recognised the chemistry of epoxy and advanced the study further. Dr. Castan allowed his work to be licensed by a company called Ciba, based in Switzerland, which began producing commercialised epoxies as we know them today.
What is Epoxy Resin?
A resin is a solid or high viscous substance of either plant or synthetic origin that is convertible into a polymer. Epoxy then typically refers to the cured end products of epoxy resins.
Since the 1940s, this product has revolutionised the market and continues to do so today. These high-performing adhesives provide durable outdoor coatings, protective sealers and decorative finishes for concrete floors.
